The Historic Cotswolds

The Historic Cotswolds are steeped in centuries of history and this exciting tour will allow you to find out about many of the events that shaped our magnificent country. You will be transported to Blenheim Palace where you will explore the wonderful Palace one of the finest in Europe, and the home of Sir Winston Churchill. Next up could be a visit to the Rollright Stones, a mysterious stone circle that was built as the trilithons of Stonehenge were being hauled into place.

After this busy morning we’ll take you for lunch at a 16th century inn or perhaps ‘The Porch House’, reputedly the oldest inn in England, dating back to 949AD. Then it’s off through the Cotswold hills to Gloucester, where you will be guided around one of the most magnificent ‘Gothic’ cathedrals in the country, so good in fact, that it was used extensively for filming of a little series of movies about a boy called ‘Harry Potter’.

Our Historic Cotswolds tour could end with visits to both Tewkesbury and Hailes Abbey, significant sights of pilgrimage and worship for over 500 years. This is a day to remember for any lover of English history and can, of course, be fully tailored to include other historical sites close to the Cotswolds including Warwick Castle, home of ‘Warwick the Kingmaker’, Sudeley Castle, burial place of Henry VIII’s last wife Catherine Parr, Hereford Cathedral, home of the famous ‘Mapa Mundi’ or the Roman City of Bath.

Each day we were introduced to a new portion of this outstandingly beautiful region. A different and fun portion was a morning with a lady falconer who got us personally involved in handling her birds o...
