Plymouth & South Devon

Plymouth & South Devon is a hidden gem for many coming to the South West of England. You can retrace Sir Francis Drake’s footsteps on The Hoe Plymouth where he set sail to defend England against the Spanish Armada in 1588. With a short walk to the Barbican you can admire the historic architecture of the Elizabethan buildings and narrow cobbled streets. We can visit the world-famous Mayflower Steps from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail in 1620 to start a new life and further their religious believes in the new world – The United States of America. We can stop by Island House, where the Pilgrim Fathers lodged prior to their departure. For those Gin lovers a visit to the Plymouth Gin Distillery is highly recommended too.

After a busy morning we will head to the coastline of South Devon. South Devon offers magnificent landscapes, picturesque beaches and coves, memorable water sports, the renowned South West Coast walking Path, distinguished foodie havens and some wonderful towns and villages where you can experience superb independent shopping and immerse yourself into life as a local and get yourself one of the famous Devon cream teas.

Perhaps you would like to experience the setting of Greenway House, Agatha Christie’s holiday home where she retired to on completion of her novels. For our gardeners we could visit Coleton Fishacre House and Garden an arts and crafts inspired house and stunning gardens which thrive in the subtropical climate. Or, we could take in Dartmouth Castle one of the most picturesquely sited fortresses in England. For over six hundred years Dartmouth Castle has guarded the narrow entrance to the vibrant port of Dartmouth.

Plymouth & South Devon is great for those interested in history and want to see some sites as well as the coastline, a nice mixture of sightseeing and relaxing!

Take me back to Cornwall & Devon!

Cornwall and Devon is truly a very special place, from the historic sites we saw like the Mayflower launch, King Arthur’s Castle, Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant, the famous scenes where Poldark was shot and even a sheepdog demonstration on the cliffs, this was one of my favourite vacations ever. Eddie and his team put together and delivered 5 days I will never forget!
