The Historic West Cornwall region is the perfect mix of historical sites, local life and true beauty.
We will start in St Ives, where this former fishing village has become one of the most popular seaside resorts in the UK. Famous for its beaches as well as its thriving arts scene both historically and today, we will wander the narrow streets and enjoy this beautiful location.
We will head on around the glorious far West Coast, stopping at Botallack in the UNESCO World Heritage Cornwall Mining district. Here the remnants of the old tin mines cling to the edge of the cliffs over the Atlantic Ocean, which make a truly spectacular vista. This combined with some stories of the miners is often cited as the highlight of the day and it also has been featured in Poldark several times.
Head on to Lands End for a famous picture, then the next stop will be the fantastic Minack Theatre, carved into the rocks above the spectacular Porthcurno Beach by Rowena Cade and her gardener over a period of 40 years! There are a range of Cafes and pubs serving good food in the area, the choice is yours for lunch.
In the afternoon we will continue our tour in the far West of Cornwall with a visit to the iconic St Michaels Mount. The Mount is a former monastery which dates back to the 8th century, and has been owned by the same family since 1659. To finish the day for you garden lovers Glendurgan is one of the best-known subtropical gardens in the UK. Or, for those not interested in gardens we can take a stroll across the Historic West Cornwall coastline or stop for a Cornish afternoon tea!
Cornwall and Devon is truly a very special place, from the historic sites we saw like the Mayflower launch, King Arthur’s Castle, Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant, the famous scenes where Poldark was shot and even a sheepdog demonstration on the cliffs, this was one of my favourite vacations ever. Eddie and his team put together and delivered 5 days I will never forget!
