A boy who goes by the name of Harry Potter might be familiar to you and you may have read or seen his stories, well this famous boy’s movies were captured and the inspiration for a lot of famous scenes in Oxford and the Cotswolds. Let us recreate this magical book for you with our Harry Potter Tours and put you in the steps of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
One of Oxford’s notable colleges was the inspiration for Hogwarts’ dining hall and the scenes for many of the famous staircase scenes. We’ll visit the famous college where the scene in the Globlet of Fire was created when Harry comes face to face with Malfoy and is turned into a ferret by Professor McFonagall. Let’s go see where the infirmary was shot in The
Philosopher’s Stone and where Harry ends up after his confrontation with Voldermort.
After a busy morning we’ll find a cosy country pub for lunch before we head off to one of England’s finest Cathedrals. Gloucester Cathedral, over 900 years old, provided several settings for ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ and ‘The Chamber of Secrets’ including Hogwarts’ corridors, the overflowing bathrooms, the talking portraits and ghost scenes.
For general film fans we’ll finish of the day in the medieval village of Lacock which has been used in many films such as Downton Abbey, Wolf Hall, Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter. Lacock Abbey in the village stood in as Hogwarts for two of the films and the abbey’s cloisters were used in many of the films and one of houses was used as Harry Potter parents’ house.
