We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity to enjoy a personalized experience that combines George Washington’s Family Private Manor Tour and a scenic tour of the Cotswolds. Sulgrave Manor, considered the original home of the special relationship between the UK and USA, has a rich history as the ancestral home of George Washington and a symbol of the bond between these two nations. The tour provides a detailed exploration of the manor, which has captured the interest of American visitors and preservation groups due to its significance in the history of both countries.
During the tour, you will learn about the origins of the Washington family’s wealth, their journey across the Atlantic when their fortunes declined, and the life of George Washington, who became the first President of the United States and one of the Founding Fathers. You will also have the opportunity to admire the impressive collection of 16th-century furniture and fabrics, as well as view one of the largest collections in the UK of memorabilia related to America’s first President. The tour will take you through the rooms of the manor and the gardens, where you can see artifacts brought over from the USA and hear stories about the ancestral family members of George Washington. By the end of the tour, you will have explored one of the most enduring symbols of the special relationship between Britain and America.
The rest of the day will be dedicated to exploring the enchanting beauty of the North Cotswolds. You will have the chance to visit famous villages such as Chipping Campden, Broadway, Lower and Upper Slaughter, and Bourton-on-the-Water. Alternatively, we can venture off the main tourist route and discover the hidden gems of the Cotswold countryside, including charming fairy-tale villages like Blockley, Snowshill, and Stanton. Immerse yourself in this captivating region known for its picturesque historic villages, impressive manor houses, stunning gardens, and breath-taking landscapes. Whatever your interests may be, the Cotswolds has something to offer, whether it’s a vibrant culinary scene, exclusive boutique shops, family-friendly attractions, or a rich heritage.
