Halfway between Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh, you’ll find the village of Blockley that is not only steeped in industrial history but famed as the filming location of the BBC Father Brown series. The popularity of the series, which is now in Season 10, sees visitors coming worldwide to visit this beautiful Cotswold village and Church of St Peter & St Paul. The church itself is transformed into the St Mary Roman Catholic church in the series and the vicarage transformed into the presbytery for Father Brown’s residence.
We now have the opportunity to offer a private tour to visit the bell tower which will also include visiting the ringing chamber, clock room and bell chamber. The bell chamber itself is 3 floors up a beautiful spiral stone staircase. The church has one of the finest installations of church bells in the Cotswolds and this unique experience will allow you to see this truly famous church up close. Of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to take photos in front of this famous church for all of those Father Brown fans.
The rest of the day will be a Cotswold tour tailored around your interests in the area, we’ll have the chance to see the famous villages such as Chipping Campden, Broadway and Lower and Upper Slaughter and Bourton on the Water or we can take the off the beaten track roads and visit the fairy-tale villages tucked away in the Cotswold countryside. We will show you the best thatched houses in the world or simply stop for a picnic overlooking the rolling hills. Using our local knowledge, we will give you a real taste of the Cotswolds away from the major tourist spots.
